Chinese Drums for Festivals & Cultural Events
From Lunar New Year galas to summer cultural festivals — the right drum for stage, parade, or outdoor performance.
What Festival Organizers Need
Festival organizers have a unique constraint: the drum has to perform brilliantly for a 3-hour event, then either go back into storage for next year, or be rented out to multiple events.
For most festivals, purchase makes more sense than rental — over 3–5 years, purchase costs less than per-event rental, and the drum is ready when you need it. For events that need 20+ drums for a single show, rental coordination is available through partner production companies.
Outdoor festivals in summer rain, dust, or direct sun need weather-protected handling. We'll discuss your specific event conditions with you.

Festival Logistics
The decisions that save you money and stress on event day.
Purchase vs Rental
For 1–4 events per year, purchase is cheaper than rental after 3 years. Rental makes sense for one-off events or very short seasonal use.
Stage vs Outdoor
Stage drums can be hide or synthetic. Outdoor drums need weather handling: extra lacquer, covered storage, and inspection after each use. Synthetic heads handle humidity better.
Storage Between Events
5-ply export cartons work as storage containers. For long-term storage, climate-controlled space (40–60% humidity) keeps hide heads stable.
Backup Drum
For major events, keep at least one backup drum on hand — shipping a replacement in time for a 2-week-out festival isn't realistic.
Shipping & Rental
What to Know About Drum Logistics
We help festival organizers plan around production timelines.
Sample order first
Order 1–3 sample drums 8–12 weeks before your event. Test them in your venue, with your team.
Bulk order 60–90 days before event
Allow 20–45 days production + 16–35 days shipping. Plan backwards from your event date.
Air freight for urgent replacement
5–8 days for emergency replacement. More expensive but ensures you have a working drum for the event.
Storage-friendly packing
Each drum in individual 5-ply carton. We can include desiccant packs and cloth covers for long-term storage.
Rental partner network
We can connect you with production companies that rent Chinese drums for one-off events in major US cities.
Bulk packaging for shipping
For 10+ drums, we can pack in bulk 4-packs to reduce shipping cost per drum.

Frequently Asked
Questions Festival Buyers Ask
Should I buy or rent drums for my festival?
Buy if you run 1+ festivals per year for 3+ years. Rent for one-off events. We'll help you decide based on your event calendar.
What drum works best for outdoor summer festivals?
24" tanggu or lion dance drum with synthetic head. Hide heads need extra care in humidity but give a more authentic sound for indoor stages.
How far in advance should I order?
60–90 days before your event for bulk orders. 8–12 weeks for sample orders. Last-minute orders via air freight cost more but are possible.
Can drums be used in rain?
Light drizzle is manageable with synthetic heads and quick drying. Heavy rain will damage hide heads. We don't recommend unprotected outdoor use in heavy rain.
Do you ship directly to my event venue?
Yes, with DDP door-to-door. We can coordinate delivery timing with your production schedule.
What if a drum is damaged during the event?
We provide replacement parts (straps, sticks, heads) and full drum replacement at cost. Most festival organizers keep 1 backup drum for exactly this reason.
