Inside Our Workshop
Every drum we ship goes through a documented production process and a 10-point pre-shipment inspection. Here is exactly what we make, how we make it, and what we check before it leaves the workshop.

Production Process
How We Build a Drum
Every drum passes through these stages. Total workshop time: 5–25 days depending on size and complexity.
Wood Selection & Aging
Hardwood planks are selected, naturally air-dried for 3–6 months, then kiln-dried to 8–12% moisture content before cutting.
Shell Cutting & Bending
Planks are cut into staves, glued, and either bent into barrel shape with steam or laminated in layers for larger drums.
Shell Sanding & Shaping
Shells are sanded smooth inside and out, with exterior shaping and rim grooves machined to standard dimensions.
Lacquering & Painting
Multiple coats of primer, lacquer, and color, hand-painted motifs applied per approved sample. Each coat air-dried before the next.
Drumhead Preparation
Hide is soaked, trimmed, and pre-punched with nail holes matching the shell rim. Hardware (rings, nails, lugs) is fitted.
Head Mounting & Tuning
Heads are stretched and nailed around the rim in a star pattern for even tension, then hand-tuned for target pitch.
Logo & Marking
Team logos, serial numbers, or batch codes applied per buyer spec. Logo method: paint, laser engrave, or embossed leather patch.
Final QC Inspection
Each drum is visually inspected, sound-tested, hardware-checked, and signed off against the QC checklist.
Packing & Container Loading
Inner wrap + EPE foam + desiccant + 5-ply carton + ISPM-15 wooden crate for large drums. Photo log sent before seal.
Pre-Shipment Inspection
10-Point QC Checklist
Every bulk order passes this checklist before the container is sealed. Photo evidence is provided to the buyer.

Production FAQ
Questions Buyers Ask
Can I visit your workshop in person?
Yes. Serious wholesale and OEM buyers are welcome to visit our workshop in Matun Village, Luoyang. Please give us 2 weeks notice so we can arrange the visit and translation support.
Can my inspector come and inspect before shipment?
Yes. You may send your own inspector at any time during production or before shipment. We can also arrange third-party inspections (SGS, Bureau Veritas, TUV) at buyer cost.
What is your sample policy?
Sample orders of 1–3 pcs are accepted for all standard drum families. Sample fee is non-refundable but credited against your first bulk order ≥ 100 pcs. See our Sample Policy page for full details.
What is your monthly production capacity?
Our steady monthly capacity is 3,000+ drums across all categories, with the ability to scale up for large seasonal orders (e.g. Lunar New Year demand for lion dance drums).
Do you provide OEM / private label service?
Yes. OEM MOQ is 50 pcs. We assign a dedicated project manager and provide 1 white-sample prototype plus 2 finished samples for approval before bulk production.
How do you ensure consistent quality across large orders?
Every drum is individually QC-checked against our 10-point checklist. For orders of 100+ pcs we perform AQL 2.5 sampling per ISO 2859-1. Buyers also receive pre-shipment photo logs.
Can you source FSC-certified wood?
Yes, for orders of 500+ pcs. FSC certification adds ~5–8% to material cost and 2–3 weeks to lead time.
What happens if a drum arrives damaged?
Note damage on the delivery receipt and send us photos within 7 days. We replace damaged drums on your next bulk order, or issue a credit — your choice.
